Just checking in for a minute to share my new class motto, courtesy of the awesomest of them all, Mr. Wil Wheaton:
“Be Honest, Be Kind, Be Honorable, Work Hard, and Always Be Awesome.”
See his post here.
This is totally going on my syllabus, in the section on expected behavior. I really want to put one of his other sayings (“Don’t be a dick”), but I doubt that’ll fly.
It’s going to be a crazy couple of weeks around here. I’m trying to finish a draft of a dissertation chapter while also preparing to get back in the classroom for the first time since birthing a tiny human. Said tiny human is about to be a two-year-old tiny human (Whaaaa?!). My brother and his fantastic wife, who live in France, are coming to visit for a whole month.
This is all good stuff, even if it’s all kinda stressful. Gonna try and take Wheaton’s advice to heart. Time to get at it.

This post made me smile–short, simple, sweet (I just wrote “sweat” and had to correct it, yikes), and just wanted I needed! I’m making lesson plans and trying to, for the very first time, incorporate slideshows into my lesson plan. We’ll see how this works. BUT, your Wil Wheaton comment is GENIUS. I’m going to upload the image/link to his website over at my Moodle page! I think it’s a wonderful mantra for students to see. Hurrah for a new school year! May it be awesome!
