  1. Wow! People that live in Farragut think that way? That’s exactly how 90% of the population that lives in Knoxville thinks about Farragut! I live and have lived in Knoxville as well, but never on the far west side. I grew up on the North side in a family friendly not overly plastic Halls and have lived in the Rocky Hill area too. Corryton is by far my absolute favorite place because everyone is just…a person. There are no statuses, colors, or divisions. No one is better than anyone else. People of all ages are just…people. That’s my favorite part of Knoxville living and why my children go to school on the Northeast side 🙂 I glad you were able to put your concerns behind you though and give good ole Knoxville another chance 🙂 Welcome home!

    • I know so many people from Farragut who have a hard time with it! There’s definitely a lot of hypocrisy and privilege but also many nice people who want to take advantage of the location and amenities (such as myself). Plus we found a great house (a bit of a fixer-upper) in one of its older neighborhoods, with great trees. My husband actually graduated from Powell, and I taught up that direction for a bit – I really liked it. I’m curious to see how some of the changes affecting west Knoxville (expansion of Hardin Valley area, for instance) affect its overall demeanor. Lots of wealth out in those areas right now. I totally used to play softball out in the Rocky Hill league 🙂 I’ve never been to Corryton, but that’s awesome that it’s so open and welcoming!
